Gypsum plasterboard consists of a gypsum core sandwiched between two layers of paper. Different types of gypsum panels are made, each of which is a special gypsum and specially paper that specially designed for special applications.

The compressive strength up to about 40 percent depends on the amount of moisture of the dry panel, which is due to the reduction of friction between the gypsum crystals. The bending strength is always half of the amount of compressive strength.
